What is PNR Status ?  The Indian Railways passenger name record, also known as PNR, is a number that gives a variety of travel information to ticket-holders. The PNR status includes information such as the booking status – whether the ticket has been confirmed, it is on waiting list (WL) or it is under reservation against cancellation (RAC) – apart from giving basic information on arrival and departure time of trains. The PNR status has details of the coach and seat number and the fare paid by the passenger, among other details.

How PNR Works?

The Centre of Railway Information Systems or CRIS runs a database where all information about passengers are fed and stored. The system creates a 10-digit PNR status number every time a person buys an Indian Railways ticket on the IRCTC website, private travel websites or at ticket counters. IRCTC refers to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.

PNR जिसे (Passenger Name Record) पैसेंजर नाम रिकॉर्ड भी कहा जाता है 10 अंकों का एक यूनिक कोड होता है जो की टिकट के ऊपर बाएं कोने पर लिखा होता है जैसा की यह नाम से ही स्पस्ट है पैसेंजर नाम रिकॉर्ड जिसका मतलब है की वह यात्री की यात्रा सम्बंधित जानकारी रखता है जो की रेलवे की CRS (Central Reservation System) में डेटाबेस के रूप में मौजूद होता है PNR नंबर के द्वारा ही आप अपनी आरक्षित सीट के बारे में जानकारी ले सकते हैं जैसे की सीट नंबर,वेटिंग सीट की स्थिति आदि.
